Surprises all around

Last Friday we had errands to run...and I especially wanted to get the swap blocks out to Lisa and Katie. You know that last minute rush when hubby and doggie are standing at the back door waiting?

I had also checked e-mails because I had three items ordered for our granddaughter's birthday. One was due that day...

Imagine my surprise when I got home and there were two packages!

A package from Marsha? My first thought was that she must be sending all her blocks out at once...oh! dear. If everyone in the group started doing this, I would really be in trouble!

I absolutely could not believe my eyes! Do I look like a happy camper, or what? Several of you had said that you would keep looking, but I really didn't think it would happen.

So Marsha apparently decided to surprise me the same way I surprised Katie. Kept me grinning most of the week-end! Thanks again, Marsha! (I have been really good so far and haven't rushed out to get fabric). But I got a new flyer today...

While reading Katie's posting, it occurred to me that some of you might like to see some BOM's that I ran across. Sindy Rodenmayer of Garland, TX has some free patterns that might make good use of our scrap piles.

Christmas Row by Row is a charmer, isn't it?

Think of all the greens and browns that we could use up!

I can't decide which row I like best?!

Snowmen, reindeer, penguins....

Just think of those scraps disappearing!

Chocolate Stars doesn't have to be browns.

Look at all the star shapes to practice on...

Don't I remember "Love" saying that she loved stars?

Just think of all the multi-colored possibilities?

And last, but not least, is Pinwheel Sampler.

This one, I am almost positive, is calling out to Christine and Katie!

Hey Beth! More BOM's!

Now that I've teased you, I'll point you to Fat Cat Patterns!

You can start downloading directions now...

  1. Yes, what I need is help finding MORE quilts I want to make. Thank you. How fun with the chicken pattern - should we be placing bets on how soon you're starting that? (Haven't gotten a new flyer yet, but now that I know they're out there, looking forward to it!)

  2. I am so happy you got your chickens. What a surprise for you! I can't wait for you to start it.
I like the patterns you put up. Really, are you supposed to encourage people with a disease? You know how hard it is for me to pass up a BOM. LOL.
I have to go look at that link now.

  3. Isn't she helpful? Now ask me why I have so many projects in process... :) Theri

  4. You have the chickens! I'll look forward to seeing your progress, what with the new flyer arriving too...
Thanks for the link. There's always room for more projects on the "quilts to make someday" as long as there aren't any deadlines attached! -Joanne

  5. I do like those pinwheels! That is so awesome that Marsha sent you the chickens! I knew that would show up on your blog soon. I can't wait to see your finished quilt. :) Christine

  6. How sweet of Marsha to send you chicken pattern! It is a joy to me to read of everyone sending those neat little things all quilters enjoy, in addition to the swap blocks!
And yes, I do LOVE stars.....and pinwheels! I think I'll print both samplers off for future quilts. Thanks for giving us that website; it's a great one! ---"Love"

  7. What a wonderful surprise! You know what I thought of when I first saw your photo... all of us APQ'rs... quilting, chickens, hen party... okay... it sounded better in my head. *grin*

I really like the Christmas Row by Row, and the stars and pinwheels are wonderful patterns too.

    Have fun with it all!

  8. I love Sindy's pattens at Fat Cat Patterns. She has some great chicken blocks, too. I've had her site marked as one of my favorites for a long time.

I'm really glad I helped make your day, I love it when a surprise works out. Enjoy the pattern and I can't wait to see it when it's finished! Those are some big chickens!

  9. Marsha is a treasure! What a fantastic surprise! Oh my, there are so many fabulous free patterns out there. If only we had more time.... Ann :-)

  10. Glad you got what you were looking for;) Isn't it great to have friendly connections?
    Happy Quilting!!
