Was it an illusion?

Don't I remember showing you pictures of the organized sewing room just a few weeks ago? So what's this mess?

That's right! It's all Katie's fault! She issued a challenge to use up our scraps.

Look how organized I was... All the strips were gathered from drawers, bags and bins and hung on the drying rack behind the sewing machine.

And the next picture shows all the colored strips disappearing! Wow!
And then I went to pull more colors to hang on the rack... There's definitely something wrong with this theory! My scraps are NOT diminishing... If anything, I would swear they are multiplying in the dark. Do you suppose I should leave the lights on 24/7?

Doesn't look like I've accomplished much in the last 2-3 weeks, but here is the scrappy star quilt that "Love", Ann and Theri convinced me to keep working on. The 12 inch squares are great to work with and certainly helps fill up space. If you have any great ideas for finishing, please send them on!

I need to apologize for not keeping up and commenting on your wonderful projects or great news. I find myself in a situation similar to Connie's--medications not working or nobody has a clue what will work. But enough of that!

I am amazed at what a diverse and wonderful group I have been lucky enough to join! We have different styles and tastes in colors and projects--yet we have meshed together quite well, don't you think?

Oh! One last picture.... Should I send these for April or mix them up in another batch?

  1. I know what you mean about the comments. It seems if you step away for a few days the entries multiply! Your scrappy star quilt is beautiful! Depending on how ambitious you are feeling you could do a pieced border (flying geese or a ribbon design?) or if you want to move on to something else you could do a contrasting border (maybe red?). Your swap blocks look great! :) Christine

  2. Glad you popped in. Sorry you aren't feeling your best. Your scrappy star is really beautiful. You could float a couple of stars in your border.
I think your swap blocks look great. I gotta finish mine.

  3. I absolutely love your scrappy stars! I think they deserve a lovely border, perhaps flying geese, or sets of geese randomly placed along the borders...I'm sure you'll come up with something wonderful.

Love the swap blocks. You can go ahead and send those for April! Of course I'm a lucky April winner so my opinion is not completely neutral :)

I hope you feel better soon.

  4. THAT is messy? HA! But it looks like you're getting something done, so call it part of the creative process and you're off the hook. The scrap quilt is looking great. One of these days I'll get a picture of my progress and write a post and link to all of you participating, too. I hope the meds get better/straigtened out and you start feeling youself again soon. We miss you!

  5. Sorry to hear you have been under the weather, hope you get the meds figured out soon and are feeling better. Your sewing room doesn't look messy, it is pretty neat. You are just in the middle of working on your project but things look pretty organized to me! I love the star quilt, the colors are great! The flying geese border sounds like it would be really nice with the stars. Can't wait to see what you decide to do. Your swap blocks are sooooo pretty, I really like the colors.

I believe you are right about our little group, everyone brings something wonderful to our blogs and I really enjoy reading what everyone has to say! Hope you are feeling better real soon!

We are a reasonable bunch and enjoy reading your posts when they appear. I hope you feel better soon, it's no fun when medications give you trouble. Fantastic swap blocks too! Cheers, Ann :-)

  7. Yes, scraps do multiply when you are not looking;) I love the quilt you are working on in the pictures.
And I think this applies to quilters....in our version..."A skinny cook can't be trusted."...."A clean sewing room is a sign of a bored quilter." Of course, there are times when we need to organize so we can make a mess with intent;)
    Happy Quilting!!

  8. I'm sorry you are not feeling well. I really feel for you and know the feeling. I'm finally feeling better, they have been doing alot of medication adjustments. Hopefully, you can get yours worked out.

Thanks for the comment on the quilt and diaper bag. I surely hope they like it. I just got the shower invitation today. I still have to quilt it and on Martha Stewart the other day, she had purchased some cloth diapers and stitched ribbon at each end for burp cloths. I think I may add that to the diaper bag. I am pleased with how it has turned out. Thanks again, Connie204

  9. I don't know how I missed this blog earlier, but I'm glad I found it! Your scrappy Stars are gorgeous! So are the swap blocks! Your room looks very typical of a quilter to me! The drying rack works well there, doesn't it? I have one, but never thought of using it like that; I'll have to try it out!
Look back at my last blog --- I left a message for you there before I found this blog of yours. ---"Love"
